The state of the art is to use virus protection not only at the network perimeter, i.e. at the junction between the company network and the internet, but also on end devices. Only this makes it possible to avert risks that come from inside and not through contact with the internet. It’s also clear that a Notebook that accesses the internet on the go or connects to outside networks needs to be protected accordingly.
The existing, professionally managed IT infrastructure at Pallas, such as the storage solutions by NetApp and EMC, is available for customer use. Depending on your policy, on-site computers or remote workers can be secured at the touch of a button or automatically. That applies from simple mirroring all the way to deduplication. This inspects data for availability and changes, significantly reducing the data volume to be transferred.
The vast majority of attacks on networks exploit obsolete software releases on clients and servers as vulnerabilities. The Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) should be used first of all to detect these security gaps. For full patch management, including of third-party products, we use the Corporate Software Inspector from our partner Secunia/Flexera. The vulnerability data for the Corporate Software Inspector is supplied by the Secunia Research Team. This enables cost-effective, comprehensive patch distribution for desktops and servers.
Endpoint security is an umbrella term for all security measures that focus on server and desktop systems. Endpoint security extends from data loss prevention to security awareness. This approach naturally also includes local firewalls, local virus protection and patch management.
